2009 FREE Back-to-School Offer 


 

Get a FREE MTN Sciencentre visit on Monday 26 January for your
school and view the partial solar eclipse from the rooftop parking area
of Canal Walk. 
This will be an annular eclipse where the Moon won’t
completely cover the sun.  
Cape Town is expected to see a 65% partial eclipse.

 

Programme for Monday 26 January
07:30 – 08:30      Guided eclipse viewing

08:30 – 09:00      Breakfast Break

09:00 – 09:30      Talk by Cliff Turk: Understanding eclipses

09:30 – 10:30      Explore the MTN Sciencentre


Notes:
1. Breakfast for school groups will be supplied (muffin, juice, fruit)

2. School groups are expected to provide their own transport but entrance to the

    MTN Sciencentre as well as the special eclipse programme is FREE!

3. Schools who would like to come but need assistance with transport must apply to the

    MTN Sciencentre before Thursday, 22 January

Members of the general public are welcome to attend the guided
eclipse viewing from 7:30 to 9:00 and the talk at 9:00

 

Should you wish to view the eclipse from home, eclipse viewers are available to purchase
from Experilab, the science shop next to the MTN Sciencentre.  Do not look at the sun
with the naked eye, a camera, telescope or binoculars – you can be instantly blinded!
